Mulberry Silk Maintenance

Silk is a protein fiber and contains amino acids that are beneficial to the human body, which can promote the metabolism of the skin and keep the skin moist and smooth.

Regarding distinguishing the nature and polyester silk: the best way is to burn, not to draw a few pieces of silk, but to burn a small piece, because in silk blending, only drawing out the radial or weft direction may not be able to determine that the whole fabric is 100% silk .
Silk is flame-retardant, does not show flames, and smells frowziness after burning, twist it with your hands and it is in powder form. If you use disinfectant to test, the silk will dissolve, but the disinfectant for silk-wool blends will not work.
About fragrance: Generally speaking, there are spun silk, oil silk, tussah silk, etc. that have fragrance, and other silks do not have such obvious fragrance.
About maintenance: wash in cold water, use neutral laundry detergent or special detergent for silk, wash by hand, do not twist too hard, do not machine wash, do not dry, do not expose to the sun, use a drying basket for drying, and spread the clothes out in the shade to dry as much as possible. Fold less and so on. The specific types of silk are different, some can be ironed, some can’t, some can be dry cleaned and some can’t.
About shrinkage: Now many brands of silk clothes have undergone pre-shrinkage treatment before leaving the factory, and the problem of silk shrinkage has been basically solved.
Easy to wrinkle: Iron at low temperature or lightly spray water with a small watering can and wrinkles will loosen.
Fading: Silk fabrics will fade, because the dyes used in silk are different from other fabrics. They are reactive dyes, and silk is very weak. In order to reduce the damage to the silk, the color fixing ability is slightly reduced. The color fading of the sand-washed fabric will be relieved a lot.
Summary: Silk is easy to shrink, and the finished size you choose should be a little larger than the usual size.
